Places We Love

I seem to get a lot of “you’re always out and about” and “where was this??” so I thought I’d share a little about our favorite spots! The truth is, we are always out and about. My toddler loves being outside, active, and does well in new experiences- loves to engage in new things and new opportunities. I love being out of the house too. Since our second, born December 2022, it has been a bit of a hurdle getting successfully out of the house. Packing up an infant diaper bag filled with a solution to every possible scenario, wake windows and feeding schedules… plus the needs of a toddler… it feels like getting the timing right is a moving target these days. Though we do prefer to be doing something, we also learned to not feel guilty when we do end up having an at-home play day. It’s a balance. We’re still trying to figure it out too. Okay why am I sharing all this with you??! “Places We Love” is dedicated to all the hard working parents (yes, you SAHM/D especially!) out there who know what I mean when I say “is it worth it”, outings that are fulfilling in some sort of way, and fun for all – mom and dad included. Here is the first of a little vlog series! Hope you enjoy the series, and please send any questions my way!

WOLVES & PEOPLE

<—-(click pic for vlog)

We love Wolves & People for the great beer, family-friendly space for a toddler to run and explore, and they have, what I like to call, the family-friendly attitudes (you know what I’m talking about moms and dads!) The staff is suuuper nice, they think (or are good at pretending to think) my kid is cute, and they play it cool when Sloane wants to make little rock piles or spread around the filbert shells as we playfully chase her trying to convince her to put them back. We’ve been there enough now that we make sure to borrow the staff broom before we leave to help sweep up any messes Sloane makes. They don’t expect this at all, but it’s a nice little nod to how much we appreciate them and the space they’ve created. It’s a super casual place! Because they don’t serve food, theres no pressure to just order drinks, and they allow outside food – I love feeling zero guilt about bringing food from home, especially for my tot. Rain or shine, we love this place. We visit year round, but man, it sure is extra nice when the sun is shinning.

Kayt's Kitchen

We love Kayt’s Kitchen for so many reasons. It’s no secret that Kayt is an amazing chef and baker, but she’s also an amazing human. We’ve only lived in Newberg for 2 years, but were immediately drawn to her and her magical baking wonders. Most of you know my husband is celiac, so only up until recently with her new GF/DF items available, he hasn’t even gotten to enjoy the treats! And he still loves her too! But you can probably guess that Sloane, my 3 year old, is her absolute BIGGEST fan! The spot is perfect, family-friendly, and chairs and tables lend it a great spot to lounge a little while eating a tasty treat. Sloane also loves to run around the gravel lot.

Kayt has a location now too!

The food truck is on the corner of College St. and 2nd St. in Newberg (next to Pulp and Circumstance)
Follow Kayt on instagram for updates, bagel orders, and hours.

You can also find her at the Newberg Wednesday Market 4:00 PM-8:00 PM or until sell out

Oregon Heritage Farms

Oregon Heritage Farms has so many fun things for the family! Hayrides, animals, mini hay maze, bounce house, apple slushies (no sugar added!!) and a little farm store! There’s plenty of spaces to roam and run around. There is also an apple slingshot and “spider web” to climb on. There usually is a fundraiser of some sort happening on the weekends and a little food stand (hot dogs chips sodas etc) for sale to raise money for a baseball team or school booster club or local cause. The farm store has everything from apples to baked goods like pies (there’s GF pies too!), and even 6-packs of hard cider for sale – made from the apples from the farm. On weekdays from 3-5pm you can get a half dozen of their apple cider donuts + apple cider slushie for $5!

It’s also right next door to Hoffman Farms and if you’re really looking to live it up and do back to back fun, head over to their neighbors after!
